In 1937 Charlie and Ed Curtis started cutting Christmas trees and boughs. They headed to the mountains with their bow saws and horse drawn wagons and camped until they had a full wagon. For about the first 20 years they would haul their spoils into Denver. Sometime around 1957, someone decided that it might be easier and more profitable to just sell them from the yard, and the tradition continues! We may have upgraded from bow saws and wagons to chain saws and trucks but Oaklands Ranch has continued to provided natural Christmas trees to hundreds of families every year.
